Back to School

We re-enrolled Emma at Old Fort baptist church for their Child's Day out program. It's just 2 days a week from 9-1, but she loves it and always has a great time. I was happy for the first day to arrive, but as usual a little hear sore as I dropped her off with a new teacher, new classroom, new classmates and a new year under way. Thank goodness, we separated without any tears. Another huge relief was that she was dropped off and picked up with the same outfit on...potty training has not been so easy!

Sunday Best

Sunday mornings are always special as Emma and I get ready for church. It's become such a custom thing in our house that she knows we get "dolled" up and ready together. So much that last month after multiple times trying to get her to put her dress on and brush her hair, I told her that I was going to leave without her...I walked towards the door with my keys and she proceeded to tell me "Uh, Mommy you can't go in your pajama's". This past Sunday was a little different though - Emma walked in while I was curling my hair and told me that I looked "So cute" and asked if I could do her hair too. I was up for the challenge and began putting the curlers in her hair. PRECIOUS, is the only word that comes to mind. She was so sweet with her curlers in and out that I could not resist sharing these pictures....

New Friends

During the summer my neighbor, Kate, approached me about watching her children during the week. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to help out a fellow mother, so we agreed and I "went back to work". Her 3 year old son is such a sweet child and so easy to watch. I was a little worried that Emma would be over protective of her space, her mommy and her things, but thankfully she loves the company and they have become such sweet friends. Upon returning home one afternoon from the store, Emma caught Will in the yard playing with his mom's garden hose. Who would have known that 2 toddlers could have so much fun with a garden hose and free running space!

Then and Now

A sweet moment between a special Aunt and her Niece....

Arts & Crafts

TeTe loves doing Arts & Crafts, so she pulled out our box of supplies and got to planning. Emma was the perfect candidate since she also loves a little art herself! Of course, when your Aunt's in charge things get a little out of hand and Emma ended up half naked with paint all over herself! A good time was had by all and it's always a special treat to see her smiling (Emma and TeTe)...

Yes, painting with her chin!

The Coach has arrived...

With open, loving arms we welcomed back TeTe and Uncle Spence (Lauren and Arron) to South Carolina. Arron took a chance on College of Charleston and they accepted him for the Assistant Coach to both Tennis teams at CofC. It was an answer to my prayers to see them come back and I can't be more thankful for the mere 30 minute drive to see her. The first week they were here, we offered to house them until they got their feet on the ground and settled. What a treat! Emma loves her Uncle Spence so very dearly that she has even developed an interest and love for tennis herself. Arron offered to take her out to the courts one morning and have a little private lesson. Of course, Emma that she was a hit (no pun intended) and loved all the attention. I can't say she was too focused on the ball or the racquet, but she had fun and that's what mattered most! We'll look forward to more lessons in the future and who knows, maybe Uncle Spence will be coaching her onto a Grand Slam championship game one day.

Thankful for Friends!

We are so grateful to have such a wonderful group of friends here in Summerville. I don't know what I would do without my girl talk and play time for Emma. On Thursday afternoon with nothing much to do and husbands working late, Megan and I decided to get the girls together for some slip 'n slide fun and a visit. Megan and kids have been gone most of the summer to their home in Kentucky, so we've not been able to spend much time with them these past few months. It was great to catch up and let the girls play (with a few time outs and tears).

Friends, Popcorn and Fancy Chairs...

It's called the MOVIES and it was Emma's first trip. Our good friends, the Haskells, invited us to the new Winnie the Pooh movie. We were not sure how our pre-school girls would handle an hour of quiet and sitting would do, but surprisingly they did great. A little popcorn and their favorite snuggies made it that much better. I must say that Emma was more fascinated with the fancy chair and where the movie was actually coming from than the actual movie, but we still enjoyed our first experience at the movie. Next trip....The Lion King on big screen!!!

Beach fun and photo-shoots!

Boogie boarding is fun when you don't have to do any of the work! A few minutes after this picture, Emma somersaulted over the board and into the sand - she didn't attempt the boogie board again!
